Seeking Bids: Snow Removal Service

Vergennes Township is currently taking bids from qualified contractors for snow removal services for the 2020-2021 winter season.

Vergennes Township reserves the right to waive any informality in the request for proposals, to reject any or all proposals; and to award the contract in a manner which it considers to be in the best interest of the township. The Township reserves the right to use whatever reasonable and sensible evaluation techniques it deems appropriate.

Scope of Services: 10381 Bailey Dr., Lowell, Michigan– Vergennes Township Hall

The contractor shall provide snow removal services as outlined below:

  1. Plow parking lot and salt (as needed) when there is 2 inches or more of snow accumulation. Lot and walks need to be cleared by 8:30 a.m.  Return to remove ridge left by county plows and to remove drifts.
  2. Plow parking lot and shovel walks on board meeting nights if snowfall accumulates 2 inches or more during the day to include the following Mondays: November 16, December 21, January 18, February 15, March 15,  snow plowing to be completed before 6:30 pm.
  3. Shovel the main entrance 
  4. Shovel the boardwalk and steps to upper level 
  5. Portions of walkways that are covered by ice or hard-pack snow shall receive an application of salt/calcium chloride ice control material, on an as-needed basis, sufficient to keep walks free of ice.
  6. The prices submitted should be calculated on BOTH a “per-time” and “seasonal” rates.
  7. Snow shall not be pushed, blown or otherwise deposited on the adjacent public roads or on the septic system which is located on the grassy area directly west of the flag pole.

Scope of Services: 69 Lincoln Lake NE, Lowell, Michigan

The contractor shall provide snow removal services as outlined below:

  1. Plow parking lot and shovel walks on Election Day – currently scheduled for November 3, 2020 before 6 a.m., and provide slip free surfaces throughout the day. 
  2. The prices submitted should be calculated on a “per-time” rate and “seasonal” rate. We anticipate beginning construction work and our plow needs may change mid-season.

Insurance Liability

The contractor shall carry comprehensive general liability and property damage insurance and after contract is awarded, identify Vergennes Township as an additional insured party on your policies for the duration of the contract.  You must supply a copy of said insurance to the Clerk prior to providing any service.

The township must receive prior notification and approve the use of any subcontractor.

Deadline for Submission 

To be considered, proposals must be submitted to, and be on file with the Vergennes Township Clerk on or before October 15, 2020 at noon. Snowplow bids will be reviewed at the October 19, 2020 7 p.m. regular board meeting.
